The Blackjack Horns are a hard-hitting, inventive, soulful but extremely versatile horn section that have been playing together for over 10 years. In this time, we have developed the feel and sound of an authentic horn section that can only be gained by playing together for such a time. We have recorded on tracks for artists such as Olly Murs, Jamie Lawson, Ed Sheeran, Stooshe, Emeli Sande, Rizzle Kicks, Katie Melua,The Maccabees, Labrinth, Jocelyn Brown (and many more), and numerous adverts, jingles, library music & demo's, and would love to be on YOUR record too. Please feel free to look around and hear the broad range of styles, instruments and talents you can have on your project.
Our Blackjack Horns online studio emerged about 10 years ago. We had the idea of recording from our own personal studio, remotely, to record for anyone across the world. We then set about seeking advice from some well-known musicians – in-their-own-right master horn players of studio and live performance – as well as top producers & studio engineers that we have had the pleasure of working with over the years. Using these resources, we have learnt about the greatest studio techniques, mics, software, amps & compressors, and everything horn players should know for recording, playing and mixing the best possible sound of brass playing for a professional project.
We are now joined by legendary saxophonist, Gary Barnacle (Level 42, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Bjork, Tina Turner, Jamiroquai), a horn section veteran and virtuoso saxophonist, whose work so vast means that collectively we have expert knowledge of horn section playing, music arrangements, studio techniques, and not to mention the clientele we have worked with.
The Blackjack Horns have worked recently (live or in the studio) with such artists as :- Beverley Knight, Kelis, Jamie Lawson, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs, Labrinth, Jocelyn Brown, Scouting For Girls, Cutting Crew, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Gloria Gaynor, The Maccabees, and more.
